Dr. Demetrios Eliades
Demetrios is the co-founder of Aqualligence Ltd. He holds a Dipl-Ing (2004) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, an MSc (2005) in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a PhD (2011) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cyprus, with a thesis entitled “Fault Diagnosis and Security Monitoring in Water Distribution Systems”. He is a Research Fellow at the KIOS Research Centre for Intelligent Systems and Networks.
Since 2006 he has been working in designing algorithms and software system for the diagnosis of quality and hydraulic events in water distribution systems. His research has been funded by the European Union and the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus, and through these projects he has collaborated with leading companies and research centers working in water research.
In specific, Demetrios works on water distribution systems modelling, optimization and control, on areas such as water quality sensor placement, contamination event detection and isolation, manual sampling scheduling, leakage detection, demand forecasting and quality control. He has also collaborated and published various open-source toolkits for water quality analysis and optimization, such as the EPANET-Matlab Class Toolkit and the S-PLACE Toolkit for water quality sensor placement and others, which are widely used.
